SRM Concrete has teamed up with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources to help replenish the reefs off of the coast of Myrtle Beach by using our leftover concrete to build artificial reef modules.

The SCDNR has been sinking these types of structures for decades to help provide habitats for a diverse group of native fish species. The biologists at the SCDNR have tested many different types of artificial reef structures, but they have found the concrete structures to be both the most effective and the longest lasting.

The structures are built using specially designed concrete forms that, when released, create an obelisk-shaped structure with a hollow interior for fish to hide out in and 10-12 holes for fish to come and go.

We are proud to use our excess resources to help our environment and our community.
